Australian Nick Thayer has been a hot tip in Breaks recently, and this sample release from his forthcoming album on powerhouse breakbeat marque Passenger Records reminds us why.
First up is Mind Control. Chunky midtempo beats and bass bring to mind the Prodigy's classic stadium-breaks anthem, 'Breathe'. A grungy stomper, this track could find itself at home on the dancefloors of more forward-thinking rock venues as well as your local breakbeat emporium.
Changing up the vibes to complete the package is 'Toasted' A bubbling, techy roller, it reminds me of something BLIM or Koma and Bones would put out. Siren sounds, big drops and a full-tilt bassline will coax more energy from the dancefloor while squeaks, beeps and horn sample stabs twist up people's heads nicely. Large. |
