ImageWell, I was quite looking forward to Mr. Da Housecat's new GU offering - we at CGWW towers are fans of Felix's electro-clash-tinged housey sound. The package consists of two CDs - one entitled 'Fuck Rock' and the other 'Fuck Rave'. The first, 'Fuck Rock' isn't particularly Rocky at all - it's more 3am chugging minimal and electro. Smoothly-enough mixed, featuring tracks from Chris Leibing, Sasha, Benny Benassi and Pig & Dan, it's competently enough put together, but in my eyes a little lacking in terms of progression, and not particularly representative of Felix's DJing style. As a CD to play after a night out, it's not bad though.

CD Two is a little bit more like Felix's usual style - and a bit more interesting to listen to into the bargain, with tracks from trendy Germans Boys Noize, Quando Quango, Lopazz, JoJo de Freq and a rather tasty Switch remix of Armand Van Helden's 'Je T'Aime'. However, some of the biggest tracks on here have been knocking about for quite a while (Etienne De Crecy - 'Punk', John Dahlback -  'Blink') and also some of the mixing was a little intrusive ? for example from Ramsey & Co's 'Love Call' into Felix's own 'Radio' there was quite a bad key clash, and while I don't think all mixing should be harmonic, I do think that perhaps GU could have considered a re-edit here, as when you're listening to a mix in a home context, you don't have the room energy to detract from the odd technical snafu that you would when hearing a mix in a club, meaning one tends to listen more critically.

To sum up - not a bad mix but I was a little underwhelmed. I thought the first CD could have been mixed by any number of DJs, while the second, although it promised a lot, didn't quite deliver in the end. 6/10
