Rob Da Bank's 'Bestival' is a relatively new addition to Great Britain's summer festival program, but in the tree years since its inception has already become one of the country's favourites. Held in a country park on the Isle of Wight, Bestival's late-summer dates mean that for the last few years it has experienced some of the best of England's notoriously unpredictable weather.
One of the reasons Bestival has become so popular in such a short space of time is the organiser's somewhat quirly approach. Festivalgoers have always been encouraged to appear in costumes. In 2005 it was near-compulsory, as the Bestival team aimed to beat the Guinness World Record for the greatest number of people in Fancy Dress at any one event. This, combined with other innovations such as making the festival 'Carbon Neutral', providing an inflatable 'church'complete with priest to marry couples onsite, special tents for breastfeeding mothers and a host of charitable initiatives really set this event apart from the mainstream.

Dates and lineup have yet to be annouced, but last year's event was in early September and featured Beastie Boys, The Chemical Brothers, Primal Scream, Madness, Gregory Isaacs, The Levellers, The Orb, The Gossip, Kate Nash, Jack Penate, Patrick Wolf, Billy Bragg, The Maccabees, Dub Pistols, Calvin Harris, Friendly Fires and The Shakes.
