For many, Glastonbury is where it all began. The quintessentially English festival has traditionally played host to top international bands as well as the freshest up-and-coming new talent. In recent years they've moved with the times and provided quality Dance Music lineups to compliment the array of bands on offer. In fact, the organisers claim to have over 1000 acts appearing over the three-day period of the festival. |

Speaking from experience, I can say that Glastonbury is THE Festival that every music fan should experience at least once in a lifetime. It's not just about the music - the location was used as a sacred place by the early Britons, it is said that the natural energies of the locations (Ley Lines) are very powerful, and regardless of your beliefs in such matters, three days of camping and partying in this beautifully scenic part of England certainly has a restorative effect on the soul, if a somewhat tiring one on the body! Constraints from the local authorities mean that access to the site is not as free and easy as it was when the festival first started to gain recognition, as it used to be very easy to jump the fence, but in the last few years there has been a massive clampdown on unauthorised entry. It's now very difficult indeed for non-ticket holders to enter, so despite the huge numbers attracted by the event, it is very safe, many people bring the whole family and ample provisions are made for kids.

This year's Glastonbury Festival will be held on the weekend of 27th, 28th and 29th June, but persons wishing to attend should be aware that it is essential to be organised about getting tickets - they go like the proverbial hot cakes, often selling out in a matter of a couple of hours after going on sale. In order to buy a ticket you must pre-register on their website any time between 1st Feb and 14th March, and further instructions will arrive by email. Full lineups will be released in June.
